PAY RANGE: $22.30 - $27.88
Act as a project manager for development projects submitted to the City; ensure compliance with City requirements, in particular the Zoning Ordinance, Subdivision and Development Ordinance and Comprehensive Plans.
Example of Duties:
Research and collect data for the development of new and updated plans, programs and regulations for development.
Develop planning studies and reports in support of new and updated plans, programs and regulations.
Manage inquiries, telephone calls and public information requests.
Provide high level of technical support to the staff in the Planning Directorate, customers and the general public.
Prepare and present detailed reports on development proposals to government bodies.
Review moderately difficult development proposals and site plans for conformance with codes, plans, and regulations
Collect a variety of statistical data and prepare reports and maps on topics such as census information, land use, tax base data, and occupancy rates.
Evaluate re-zonings, ordinance amendments, site plans, special use permits, variances and other proposals.
Act as liaison between community groups, government agencies, developers and elected officials in developing neighborhood plans
Coordinate community review of public and private development projects
Provide information to the public regarding development regulations
Assist in resolving citizen and customer inquiries
Conduct field evaluations and assessments
Take initiative to work independently and as a team member to meet deadlines and multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
Attend substantial number of evening meetings and infrequent weekend meetings.
"Planner of the Day" responsibilities.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree in urban planning, architecture, public policy or related field of study. A bachelor's degree is preferred and may substitute for one year of experience.
Two years of experience in plans review, zoning administration, and permitting is required.
Any combination of experience and education which provide the applicant with the level of required knowledge and abilities will be considered.
Priority will be given applicants with a Bachelor's degree and one to two years of municipal planning experience.
Valid State of Texas Driver License
Must be able to provide services for the benefit of the general public during emergency situations that threaten the safety of League City's citizens, and that, City employees must be able to work immediately before, during, or immediately after an emergency.
Knowledge of the principles and practices in planning and relevant specializations such as transportation, land use or historical preservation.
Knowledge of principles and practices of research and data collection.
Ability to apply statistical, algebraic, and geometric knowledge in practical situations.
Demonstrated knowledge of computer hardware and software programs, which include Microsoft Office, permitting and GIS applications.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar; able to read and interpret written information.
Highly-developed interpersonal skills with the capacity to cooperate and build constructive relationships at all levels of interaction, both internal and external. Capable of consistently exhibiting professional, positive, diplomatic demeanor.
Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and good judgement.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit a high degree of professionalism.
