Description     

The Town of Erie is currently accepting applications for Environmental Planner. Under general oversight of the Director of Community Development, the Environmental Planner performs a variety of environmental and natural resources analyses, sustainability impact reviews and serves as a liaison and resource for oil and gas/energy issues, recycling and sustainability programs for the Town and the community. The below list is intended to be illustrative of the responsibilities of the position and not all encompassing. The Town may change these duties at any time. •Serves as a liaison between the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC), natural resources agencies, Town residents, and the Town Board on matters related to oil and gas industry. •Responsible for the development and implementation of the programs, systems and processes required in overseeing the review, tracking, and reporting of all energy activity within the Town. •Reviews and processes local approvals for oil and gas development applications in accordance with the Town of Erie Municipal Code. •Reviews and coordinates responses to the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission (COGCC) permit applications to insure all terms and conditions of oil and gas development are met. Develops recommendations regarding the advisability of issuing the permits and corresponding term of any permits issued. •Provides technical knowledge and advice in the area of environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, waste and recycling, public health, and other sustainability-related concepts. •Develops marketing strategies and materials to promote the sustainability efforts of the Town and the community. •Receives, investigates, documents, and reports on citizen complaints of environmental issues. Investigates and follows-up on all inquiries and maintains records of issues. •Works as the Town liaison for landfill operations reviewing CDPHE documents and equivalent state documents. •Reviews any incoming permits applications for any environmental impact. •Coordinates and oversees the work of outside experts who may assist Town staff on specialized issues. •Researches, analyzes and makes recommendations to management concerning land use issues. •Works closely with Town and outside utilities. Serves as Town liaison with environmental and regulatory agencies on the state and federal level. •Conducts noise, light, odor and other environmental tests as needed and upon complaints. •Works closely with the public and provides education and information concerning the energy industry, Town projects and any remediation issues that are planned. •Other related duties as assigned.
