Salary Range: $52, 924.08 – $82,102.63 DOQ
Bachelor’s degree in Urban Planning or a related field such as public administration or architecture, from an accredited college or university and Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in a recognized planning agency with concentration in current planning, long range planning, and/or transportation planning
OR Master’s degree in Urban Planning and two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in a recognized planning agency with concentration in current planning, long range planning, and/or transportation planning
OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities and other competencies necessary for success in the target position.
Need knowledge of the principles and practices of city planning with experience in both comprehensive planning and current planning (zoning and land development regulations); and ability to communicate complex planning concepts to public officials, appointed advisory boards and public groups. AICP Certification is required. Will be asked to submit a brief writing sample.
Primary responsibilities include:
Performs research, planning and technical analysis for complex planning projects and prepares reports, including demographic and statistical information for specific projects and for general distribution to the public.
Provides technical assistance to citizens and private interests to ensure development in accordance with Land Development Code and other City standards and polices.
Represents the staff as technical advisor to the Planning and Zoning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment and Appeals.
Develops amendments to the Comprehensive Plan and Land Development Code.
